Holts Summit Fire Protection District has approximately 40 personnel. The men and women on the department serve as firefighters, auxiliary members, first responders, reserve personnel, office and command staff.     Chief Turner has been in the fire service since 1982, when he began his career as a Junior Firefighter on Bismarck Fire Department. He is a third-generation firefighter and joined The Holts Summit Fire Protection District in 2013. His district responsibilities include overseeing District Operations, administrative duties and maintaining budget compliance. In the past Chief Turner has served as a board member for Firefighter Association of Missouri and Missouri Fire Marshal’s Association.  Chief Turner is currently a board member for Missouri Fire Chiefs Association.  He also holds current memberships with Missouri Valley Fire Chiefs, International Association of Fire Chiefs, and National Fire Protection Association.  Chief Turner has been a resident of Central Missouri for over 27 years with his wife Carmen and is a Division Chief with the Jefferson City Fire Department.  Chief Turner has two children, Ryan, and Amy. Ryan is continuing the family tradition as a Firefighter with City of Springfield Missouri.

    Assistant Chief Lisa Wehmeyer has been in the fire service since 1990. Her district responsibilities include administrative duties, equipment purchase/issuing, inventory and department trainings. Along with her duties at Holts Summit Fire Protection District, Assistant Chief Lisa Wehmeyer is a member of Mid Missouri Fire Academy and Cole County Hazmat Team. Outside of the fire service she is affiliated with Grace Lutheran Church and Boy Scouts of America.

    Assistant Chief Allen Wehmeyer has served in the fire service since 1983. His district responsibilities include: overseeing department training, operations, and special operations. Along with his responsibilities with Holts Summit Fire Protection District, he is a member of Mid-Missouri Fire Training Academy and Cole County Haz-Mat Team. Outside of the fire service, Assistant Chief Wehmeyer is affiliated with Grace Lutheran Church and Boy Scouts of America. He grew up in the fire service and selected Holts Summit as where he wanted to live, raise a family, and to be able to continue to serve.

    Captain Morris has been a member of the fire service since 1993. His district responsibilities include: company supervision; coordinate building, equipment and vehicle maintenance; and fireground operations. Captain Morris is a member of the Firefighter’s Association of Missouri. He has served on two other departments, as well as gaining wildland fire experience through his employer. He has a wife and two children and has lived in the Holts Summit area for over 10 years.

    Captain Berendzen has been a member of the fire service since 2006. His district responsibilities include: company supervision, training and administrative duties. Captain Berendzen is a member of Firefighter Association of Missouri and Missouri State Fair and Rescue. He has been a resident of Central Missouri for 30 years and is married with one son. He is a second-generation firefighter with his dad, two brothers and one sister all on fire department around Central Missouri.

    Lieutenant Sneller has been a member of the fire service since 2003. His department responsibilities include: training and maintaining department's Self-contained Breathing Apparatus packs (SCBA). Lieutenant Sneller is a member of Firefighters Association of Missouri and International Association of Firefighters. He has been a life long member of the Central Missouri area and is also a Firefighter with the Jefferson City Fire Department.

    Lieutenant Hasty joined the department as an explorer in 2014. His department duties include drivers training and live fire instructor. Lieutenant Hasty holds numerous state certifications including Fire 1 & 2, Instructor 1 & 2, Hazmat Operations, and is a member of the Fire Fighter Association of Missouri. He is a life long resident of Mid Missouri and enjoys spending time with his daughter.

    Mrs. Knoll has been with the district since 2010. Her district responsibilities include General Administrative duties, bookkeeping and Secretary to the Fire Board. Mrs. Knoll has lived in Holts Summit for 15 years with her Husband and their two children. She is an active member of the Holts Summit Optimist Club and enjoys providing activities for the kids in the community.

Founded as a volunteer fire department in 1970, and becoming a Fire Protection District in 1988, the Holts Summit Fire Protection District has been proudly serving the citizens of Southwest Callaway County for more than 40 years. The department currently has two fire stations serving our citizens. Station 1, located at the intersection of Center Street and South Summit in Holts Summit, houses the departments administrative staff, primary response apparatus, and training facility/community room. Station 2, located at the intersection of Highway AA and County Road 4044, houses additional apparatus.
